Sonia Leigh at Chastain on May 25

So I spent my Memorial Day with my friends Zac, John, Jimmy, Coy, Clay and Chris otherwise known as the Zac Brown Band. Now I've spent a day or two amid the mystical pines surrounding Chastain and never have I seen such a packed out amphitheatre. I swear ZBB lovers where spilling out of the trees to get a whiff of the blue-grass, island jam, feel-good tunage coming from that stage.

The band's fanatical grassroots lie right here in the heart of Georgia where only a couple of years ago you could throw a chunk of change at the doorman in exchange for a night of story-telling with ZBB and 50 of their closest friends.Selling over 300,000 albums without major label representation made them a viral sensation and hometown heroes.

Now the rest of the nation has caught on as ZBB has been catapulted to the top of the Billboard with The Foundation. Opening up for ZBB at Chastain were notable rising talents Sonia Leigh, Levi Lowrey, and Nic Cowan, all Atlanta-based.
