2010 Beer Olympics this Sunday

Beer Olympics was a yearly ritual during my college days. 102 competitive ways to drain the kegs dry and then unsuccessfully attempting to race those kegs across the Indiana grass.

This Sunday Social Mess is recreating this college pastime and an attempt to put the "fun" back into Sunday Funday. Grab your team of 4, it's time to get into the Olympic spirit.

So how about a little Cupid Day pre-game with a FREE chocolate and bubbly tasting from 5-7 PM at their One Buckhead Plaza location.

Pacci Ristorante's "Queen of Hearts" cocktail lounge party from 7-9 PM. Enjoy complimentary appetizers, cocktail specials, tarot card readings and raffles. Grab some advice from Atlanta-based writer Blane Bachelor.

Sunday

Valentine's Day Comedy Show at The Laughing Skull Lounge Shows at 7 and 9 PM. Comedy from Emo Philips.

Valentine's Day Mixology Class at ROOM mixologist Steven Kowalczuk will mix it up with Godiva Chocolate liqueur (drool), Ciroc Coconut, and Ciroc Red Berry from 3:30 PM - 6 PM. Tickets are $30 (not including tax & gratuity) and will take place on the 8th floor right above ROOM. For reservations call 404.418.1250.

Metromix's V-day Dinner Specials Guide OK, some of us are into the price-fixed menu thing. Requires little planning as long as you get the reservation in time. This guide pretty much covers the bases. (Minus some of the deals that are clearly rip-offs, I'll let you be the judge).

Thrillist Atlanta's Super Bowl Snackage Guide

Photo & Source Guide: Thrillist Atlanta

While there hasn't been a Super Bowl appearance for the Dirty Birds since they were dancing it, you've still gotta host/attend/crash a Big Game brouhaha. To ensure you're full/not-thirsty, we're giving you some infallibly easy dish & drink recipes from top-notch ATL mixologists and chefs -- true authorities on munchies, even if they're not quite at Jonathan Babineaux's level.

Potato Chip Nachos
From Joyce Brandes, Rosa Mexicano

Courtesy of Rosa's ATL exec chef, this steak, blue cheese & pepper-topped snack platter nixes the traditional nacho base for two large bags of thick-cut chips -- also the name of Erik Estrada and Larry Wilcox's in-the-works reunion episode.

Roasted Pork Belly Hot Dogs
From Jason Hill, Wisteria

Create your own meaty dogs using the Wisteria owner/chef's blueprint, which includes skilleted 4" slices of pig paunch topped off with homemade guacamole in a potato bun, all helping to keep yours firmly planted in the couch.

Bourbon Bowl
From Brandon King, Gold Room
GR's bar manager's concocted this sweet & sour diddy employing a liter of whiskey or Bourbon of your choosing, because while the game may be in Miami, "no self respecting guy drinks a mojito when he’s not on or near a beach" -- and while Matt Ryan didn't make it, at least Falcons fans will get to participate in a bowl of some kind.

Aviary "Red Lips & Style Tips" Event on Thursday

PC & Source Cred: DC Atlanta

This Thursday, from 6-9 PM, Aviary organic beauty collective and Les Nouvelles invites you to join them to get schooled at the Red Lips & Style Tips event. Never quite mastered the red lip effect without looking like Cruella Deville? Lip lessons may help. Also get styling tips and great designer finds from Les Nouvelles and organic beauty tips from Aviary beauty experts. Did I mention free bubbly, snacks and gift bags? (Although I recommend tugging on less of the champers if you want to say in-between the lines). Overall, another good excuse for a night with the girls.
